The process of clay animation is very simple and fun to create if done correctly. First you need to have some clay in order to mould it into the shape of your choice, for our clay animation we used morph for inspiration so it was a man shaped clay mould. Then you need to use the I stop motion icon on a Mac computer in order to create the movements etc of the clay moulds. You can also edit your clay animation on final cut pro by adding audio etc.
The major strength of using clay animation is that it is very simple and quick to make your animation character and also it is simple and can be reasonably fast to film your clay animation using the stop motion app. Clay animation is very similar to cut-out animation because you have to move the moulds and take pictures in order to achieve a movement sequence.
The main limitations of clay animation is I found it a little bit difficult to move the arms of the clay mould with out changing how it actually looks and also I found It difficult for the mould character to stand up Wright with out falling this was difficult and frustrating. I also found it hard to use different angles in order to film my clay animation.
Claymation is more difficult to master then cut out animation because it is very hard to get good and effective angels. With cut out animation you can just use one angel birds eye view which is very simple and easy to film but with 3d characters, the clay moulds it is more difficult to find effective angels because you have to spend a while looking at different angels and deciding what the best angels to use are. But because claymation is 3d its easier to move the characters and make the movements look more smooth on camera.
